I think exercise is amazing. The best advice l have is to do what feels right for you. Some people love the gym, while others enjoy getting out in the fresh air and going for a walk or run. Team sports are good for those who like to socialise, and there are many businesses who cater for people who like to workout in groups. Sometimes when you are not well or over weight it can be a bit daunting to exercise in public and options could include hiring a personal trainer to work with you at home or buying some exercise equipment so that you can exercise at home whenever you feel like it. I have found that since having children it can be tricky to get out of the house and having exercise equipment at home has really suited me. There is no point having it out in the cold garage where it won’t get used very often or even in the spare room. I challenge you to put it in the lounge or living area where you can easily use it every day while supervising your children or watching a favourite t.v show. It is great to listen to music while exercising as a fast beat can really help you to push yourself. If space is limited a fit ball can be brought out when required and l have an aerobics step and mini trampoline which do not take up much space but can give a good workout. Hand weights are also very good as well as a yoga or pilates dvd and mat. If you own a bike, getting out in the fresh air on your own or with the family is also fun. Being active during the day is important as this incidental exercise adds up and keeps your body moving. How about mowing the lawn, washing the car, vacuuming or cleaning the windows. Sometimes if l am very tired l might just hop on the exercise bike for ten minutes and do some stretching. It is amazing how getting the heart rate going can improve your mood and energy levels. If you live with people who dont like to exercise that can be a challenge. My husband has never been into exercise unless l suggest it, plan it and motivate him to do it. He is slowly coming around and enjoys a walk in the fresh air, but l really have had to be very motivated over the years to keep fit as l could very easily have joined him on the couch and watched t.v. Exercise gives me a feeling of wellness and exhiliration that is hard to describe. If it becomes a chore you need to change what you are doing. It should be fun!
