How much food does our body really need to be well? What drives our desire to eat? Are the emotional cues so strong that we really have little control over food choices? What role does our genetics play in food choice and weight management.
So many questions that influence our wellbeing on a daily basis?
My new philosophy for 2017 is Eat Well: Eat Less.
What does this look like? Well, it is about listening to your body and eating when you are hungry. Some days this will mean eating a bit more and some days a bit less. It is about spending time preparing the food you eat. Ask yourself these questions as you prepare your meals? Where has this food come from? How is it going to support my wellbeing? Is this a good food choice for me?
Being female there are hormonal and emotional issues to consider at certain times but overall a wholefoods based diet is very supportive of balance in these areas and enables a greater level of informed choice in the food choices made.
Eating less might mean having some snack type meals rather than a full plate. It may mean eating light rather than heavy ie more salads and less meat. Being active is one way to support the Eat Well:Eat Less philosophy. By this l mean keeping busy, moving your body, ensuring your mind has down times and productive times, connecting socially with other people in meaningful ways, participating in meaningful work or hobbies and ensuring each day you are working towards short and long term goals.
Being at a healthy weight is an investment in your health and wellbeing. It is a wonderful feeling to have the energy to achieve your life goals.
Here is a healthy days eating for me.
These three meals would be complimented with some 90% dark chocolate, raw nuts and fruit throughout the day. Its such a healthy and fulfilling way to live.
Feel inspired to eat well. Feel inspired to eat clean. Feel inspired to love life.
