Smoothies are now a regular part of my life also. I have had a bit of a battle with them over the years as l just love fruit but have food intolerances, so the high fruit content makes me very sick.  I have been experimenting with more vegetable based juices and this is proving to be very successful. Frozen berries give a smoothie a delicious coolness and crunch and the colours from berries such as raspberries and blueberries is just incredible.

The addition of vegetables can be challenging mentally but once they are in the smoothie you don’t know they are there. I pick spinach or kale from my garden and have added other vegetables such as sweet potato, celery and cucumber. Sometimes l am tempted to put fruits in such as pineapple, peaches or mangoes as l love the sweet taste, but l always pay for it over the next few days because l have overloaded my system with natural sugars.
